Well, the trip is turning out to be quite the adventure.

I just sat down in my hotel after having traveled to Thailand and despite the fact that I have not slept in 3 days I can not go to sleep.

I could not possibly have had a more miserable trip. I spent 14 hours on a plane with a mother with a 3 year old and a 5 year old. The three year old claimed the entire time, and the 5 year old kicked my seat intentionally every 15 seconds. By the time we landed, I was ready to scream.

We made an unexpected stop in some Chinese city I had never heard of so they could do a spot security check on our plane. I had never heard of that before. We herded off the plane onto a bus that took us to a screening area, then back on a bus to the same airplane we had just gotten off with the same screaming children behind me, and the plane will not start back up. I spent hours on a tarmac, barely able to keep my eyes open, getting kicked by a kid, and listening to another kid scream his lungs out.

When I say 'herded', I mean, literally herded. I do not want to sound racist, because this is not a 'racist' comment. It is more of an observation of cultural differences. Chinese people do not have a bubble. They get in your space, and if you leave an inch in front of you, they will push into it. Old ladies throw forearms that would make any World Wrestling Federation wrestler proud. Any time you turn around, there is literally someone right there . Getting on and off the plane, it was everyone for themselves. I do not think they realize … we were going to the same place, and getting on the same plane that was going to take off at the same time, regardless of when you got on it.

We absolutely got going (On the same plane that would not start), and finally made it to the city we were destined to have landed at at China, only to learn the delay made me miss my connecting flight.

When I finally got to Phuket, they had lost my bag, and I nearly lost my mind.

I am here … finally. I stink like hell having sat in the same clothes for three days, and I do not have any clean clothes or toiletries.

You know what though … I'm in Thailand and I could not be happier !!

The smell and sounds of this country are very unique. The feel of the air is something I have not felt anywhere else. The air actually has a distinct feel to it.

The sun is rising on a fourth day without sleep, but the sound of people hitting Thai pads is emanating from Dragon Muay Thai, which is right next door to my hotel. I'm so giddy I can not sleep.

I will have to wait until stores open, then go buy me some clothes and a toothbrush.

I have to give some love to the folks at the hotel I am staying at, however. Despite being several hours late, and even later searching for my luggage, the driver was still waiting for me outside the airport with my name on a sign, and I got checked in without a hitch. Signature Phuket Resort is the absolute best !

On another note … if this is how this trip is getting started, this is going to be one helluva ride. I can not wait to see what is next!
